LIPSTICK EXPERIMENT

Got a bit bored and experimented with two lippies (Wet n Wild and LA girl) that I rarely use to come up with a new shade. Topped that off a moisturizing lip balm (Baby Lips from Maybelline). Enjoy!

How to make your own choker

Chokers may be outdated this 2017. But honestly I still love them. This choker trend started during the 90s era. Though I sported this choker thing back in the early 2000s but not the thick ones that’s trending from last year like the ones you see from Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.

I started to wear this trend wayback early 2016 but I never EVER bought one. I made one for myself instead.
As you can see on the photos below. That’s the very first choker that I made.

And on today’s blog I’ll show you how I made my very first choker. πŸ™‚

All you need is a ribbon (I personally prefer at least an inch thick), a roll of thread (preferably the same color of your ribbon), a needle, and a metal hook and eye.
1. First, is you measure your ribbon around your neck and leave at least an 2 inches allowance then mark it and cut it slightly diagonally so the ribbon won’t go “feathery” and loose its texture at the ends.

(photo from google)
2. Next is to prepare your thread and needle. Ideally the length of the thread is 20 inches but what I do is I measure it vertically around my arm. From my fingers holding the thread down to my elbow then back to my fingers holding the thread. (This shouldn’t be hard)

  1. Using your ribbon, ensure that what’s on the top is the ones you prefer to be in front then fold a few centimeters inward and start stitching the metal hook. Same fold on the other end of the ribbon where you need to stitch the metal eye.
(I am using the larger hook & eye. I prefer this if your ribbon is thick)
  2. Finally the finished product! I made 3 chokers just earlier today and here they are.

Few tips on wearing your chokers. You can also pair it with a necklace of your choice and it looks edgy when you’re wearing a tube top, a v-neck, a low round neck, an off-shoulder or any clothing that exposes your clavicle or shoulders.

That’s it for today’s blog. Thanks again for reading! πŸ˜‰

My 5 tips on joining beauty pageants if you’re not a pageant-girl

Hi guys! I haven’t been blogging a lot lately. Been busy with work and other things outside of work. I have recently been part of this pageant in our office which is the search for the company’s image model and I want to share to you guys photos from this event.

I am honestly not a pageant-girl but have I have walked for fashion shows for work purposes. I just don’t like the feeling that I have to compete with other ladies for a title. That’s just my personal opinion. I’m happy to have been part of this event.

img_1231img_1232I have put extra effort on my makeup but as you can see I didn’t put much of an effort on my hair. I honestly just towel dried my hair and combed it. Luckily we have hair stylists and makeup artists there for the event. One of them hair-iron straightened my hair. My hair was a disaster on my evening gown look but I love it. I’m comfortable and that’s just me. I didn’t intend to be over glammed up.

I didn’t win the title but I was so happy for my friend/team mate Jenn who won a special award for Miss Photogenic. So proud coz I did her makeup! I didn’t win any special awards that night but was part of the top 5. I was the first one called. I honestly didn’t expect it because, 1) I didn’t spent money for this pageant (well except for food and my makeup). 2) I didn’t win any special awards. And 3) I don’t have that huge of fan-base.
It was a nerve racking experience because I was first called for the question and answer portion and I’m so scared I might go on a mental block or answer too much weirdness. The question was, if my name will be put on the dictionary, what would it mean and why? I totally don’t remember my answer but I remember saying that my name would mean optimistic and hardworking. Besides that it’s my personality, I want people to feel that when they used that word which is my name, it will serve its positive purpose (the hell I really don’t know where did that came from). Each contestant was able to answer well and I’m just happy and relieved for everyone. The one that I speculated who would win actually won. I’ve thought it because, 1) I honestly think she nailed her photo for the pre pageant, 2) she performs well, 3) she really have a huge fan base. Congrats to Gelly! (I wish I know her full name)

I’ll update my blog soon as I was able to get good photos from the pageant.

It was quite an experience but I swore to myself that this would be the last pageant that I’ll be joining. I really feel that I’m kinda old for this kind of stuff and I want to focus on my work and becoming a makeup artist (please support me on this venture!) I wanted to end this blog post about:

Tips on joining beauty pageants if you’re not a pageant-girlΒ (Yep! You’ve read that right)
1. Take good care of your skin.
– remember its a beauty pageant. Always hydrate. Don’t sleep with your makeup on. Wash your face with your trusted face wash and don’t forget that a toner is a must plus your moisturizer.
2. Ensure you have a good makeup on you.
– it’s either you learn from the internet or get a friend to do your makeup for you.
3. Always attend rehearsals.
– you get to know your co-contestants well and share tips. Also you don’t want to miss out any changes in the flow of the show.
4. Have a good support system.
– those are your family and friends. They will keep you motivated.
5. Be thankful.
– its not all the time that you’ll be joining this kind of event. The fact that you were chosen to join is because people believe you have a potential. πŸ™‚

Tuesday Top 3: My Go-To Blushes

It has really been hectic day starting from work, then I took my daughter shopping and dealing with the heavy traffic! Traffic’s really worst when it’s raining.

But I don’t want to highlight my hectic day but instead I want to talk about Blushes! Though I’m not really a fan of putting blush (blush on) coz I’m a contour devotee. But… In my case it is deemed necessary because I’m a pale kinda gal. If I go out there without blush on or lipstick, I literally look like a sick kid.

On today’s Tuesday Top Three, I want to share to you guys My Go-To Blushes that I have tried and really works for me if I’m in a hurry and I’m pretty pretty sure that this’ll do it for the working girls out there or students on the go.

1. Avon Flavor Savers lip balm in Bubblegum

I discovered this one when I was in Senior High School. I just noticed that my lip balm really doesn’t do the trick only on my lips. I still look pale with my face powder on and my Avon Flavor Savers on my lips. I tried dabbing the lip balm on my upper cheek bone going upwards. And my! Highlighter was not a thing during that time but it looked like I had blush slash highlighter on my cheek bones. It kind of gave me a warm glow and a lot of my friends noticed it too. (Note: No skin break out happened)
2. Sophie Magic Pink Cream

This pink goodie can be used as a lip tint and blush. But on my case it doesn’t work for me as a lip tint that will last all say. But… It does it’s magic on my cheeks. It’s very smooth and easy to apply. It doesn’t matter if you’re wearing your concealer, bb cream or already mattified your face with powder, the Sophie Magic Pink Cream will glide smoothly on your face. And works well from dry to oily skin but not on too oily skin I suppose. It’s like an instant magic blush and I recommend it.
3. Revlon Matte Balm + Pond’s Age defying Cream

Last but not least, I created my own cream blush. It’s been an old school beauty hack to use your lipstick as a blush on too. And I know almost all of us girls (plus our moms) have tried this trick. But to make it a lot easier with extra moisturizing benefits I am using Pond’s Age Defying Cream together with my Revlon Matte Balm in Showy. These products are for my personal recommendation only. You are free to use whatever lipstick you have or facial cream that you prefer. You just have to dab the lipstick on your finger and apply it on your cheeks then dab a very tiny amount of moisturizer to smoothen out the lipstick blush on your cheeks. And that’s it!

I hope you have enjoyed reading this blog as much as I enjoyed sharing my Go-To Blushes. I would like to know your blush hacks too or your ideas by leaving it on the comments section. Thanks again for reading! πŸ˜‰

Tuesday Top 3: Things I’d tell to my teenage-self

On today’s blog post I’m not sharing any beauty products that I love but instead, it will be beauty tips or advices that I want to tell to my teenage-self.

Don’t touch your own eyebrows!
When I was in high school I’m very curious in trying a lot of things on my face. I tried shaving my eyebrows too thin and accidentally shaved almost half of my left (or right I can’t remember) eyebrow. So I ended up regrowing them but still I plucked and maintained my eyebrows too thin.

I want to tell my teenage-self to have a professional do her eye brows and ask for maintenance tips.

Drink lotsa water!
I’m so fond of drinking coffee and more milk tea that I tend to forget to drink water. Water relieves Fatigue, treats Headaches and Migraines (i have it before or during that time of the month), it helps in Digestion and Constipation, it flushes Out Toxins too.

According to some research that I did, water helps in improving skin too. I’ll tell my teenage-self then “Hey! Don’t skip the water!”

Don’t do that to your clothes
Way back, I used to to cut or tear (not all) my clothes to make something unique and it really ended up not really good.

So to my teenage-self, don’t do that! Trends are come and go and sometimes it even returns like that flared pants, don’t alter it too make it look like skinny jeans.

That’s all for today. How about you guys? What would you advise to your old teenage-self? I want to know your ideas by leaving it on the comments section below. Thanks again for reading! πŸ˜‰

App of the week: PicsArt

Been using PicsArt for the longest time I can remember. But I think the first time that I used it was with my Nexus 7 tablet and been enjoying editing a lot!
Though it’s not as the same pro level like the Adobe Photoshop but it’s good to have one on your phone and on your tablet.
I, hereby dub PicsArt as the App of the week! I personally think that it’s actually my phone’s App of it’s entire existence! From making your own drawing, special effects or filters on your photos, photo collage, various unique clip arts and fonts. You just can’t get enough! Recently, I just updated PicsArt and they have this additional feature called Magic. Here are the sample edited photos below.

It looks like an innovated Andy Warhol effect on those photos. And if you’re just as creative as me and you’re blogging too, PicsArt is really really the app for you.

Beauty fix: Face Mask

It’s been a hectic week for me and I’m pretty sure that you have experienced work-related or school-related stress. And don’t you just hate that if it shows ok the face? Honestly, no matter how much amount of makeup you put on to cover up especially the eye area, the tiredness will still show on your face or at least the makeup can slightly cover up but there’s this uneasy feeling on your face caused by stress.
To combat this, I sleep with a face mask on. And yeah, this year I’ve been addicted to Korean Face Mask. Like the one that you can see below.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset
And I’ve been using the 365 Daily Mask from Watson’s. And it’s one of my favorites because it’s mild, hydrates my skin and VERY affordable! This one only cost me 55 pesos. And tonight I’m trying this Renewal and Anti-Oxidant mask also from Watson’s and this facial goodie is for only Php 27.50! And so far I am loving it!

I am a fan of using face masks coz it’s my easiest way to pamper my skin from all those dirt and stress and for not having a facial for several months now. It’s my beauty fix from tired skin. So when I wake up the next day your face feels moisturized and hydrated. I personally recommend that you should use one too. There are varieties of face masks that you can try with different benefits such as pore minimizing, whitening, anti aging and etcetera. But what I believe is that the most important factor there is the hydration of the face.

I would love to hear your beauty fix too by leaving it on the comments section below. Thanks again for reading! πŸ˜‰

Tuesday Top 3: Guides to disguise bad hair days

The hair is said to be the crowning glory. And it depends for some people how they want their hair to be. Like for some us girls we prefer our hair to be short, even shorter than a bob cut, medium-length hair, or even long hair. Another thing is we’ve got different hair types such as straight, wavy, and curly.

As for me, I have naturally straight black hair which is in between medium-length and long. And it’s never easy for me to maintain and style my hair all the time. Honestly I rarely comb my hair when I just showered or when I get up in the morning.
img_0110No matter what length or what type your hair is, we can’t escape our Bad Hair Days. It’s a disaster on a daily basis especially when you go to work or to your school. We don’t have to look glamorous but at least we want to look presentable right? πŸ™‚
So I have gathered for you guys some guides on how to disguise your bad hair days.

1. Use a thick headband or scarf.
I personally recommend this one for all hair types and in any length. Why thick headband or scarf? Because it covers a large portion at the top of your head. It hides most of your hair frizz with style.
TIP: You can apply hair serum before doing this. What I also do is that I squirt a thumbnail size pf conditioner on my palm and mix it with water and apply it on my hair to somehow control the frizz.

2. Super side-swept hair.
For this one I’m not a hundred percent sure if it suits for all hair types especially for the short ones with really layered bangs. This works well if your bangs is long enough to tuck in the side of your ear. You can do this by just adding a few millimeters away from your usual hair parting. For example your hair is parted on the left, then you move it little more to the left making it more thick. Apply hair lotion or hair serum and secure it with bobby pins. You’re all set!

3. Low sleek ponytail.
Last but not least is something really typical but never goes out of style is a low and sleek ponytail. Pretty much this works with medium-length hair. I recommend that you retain how your hair is originally parted. For example this time its parted on the middle, then apply your hair serum or hair lotion just enough to give definition and then tie your hair in a low and tight pony tail. Once it’s secure, grab the upper part of the ponytail at least 2 fingers thick and pull it upwards to give it a slight volume. You may also apply hair serum or hair lotion on your ponytail. Or you can also do my trick wherein I mix a tiny amount of hair conditioner with water. Works really well.
TIP: Complete the look with a large pair of earrings. And you’re all set! πŸ™‚

And guys, there you have it! You’re bad hair days can be perfectly disguised!Β Sometimes I do a combination of the super side-swept hair and a low sleek ponytail for a more classy and sophisticated look. If you’re going to notice I did not recommend to put hair spray, hair mousse, or even hair gel it’s because it holds the hair together but doesn’t totally control the frizz that much. It’s because your frizzy hair is already dry and it’s best to use product to moisturize it instead. I hope you liked what I shared on this blog for today and I would like to hear your tips on bad hair days as well by leaving your ideas on the comments section. Thanks again for reading! πŸ˜‰
