How to make your own choker

Chokers may be outdated this 2017. But honestly I still love them. This choker trend started during the 90s era. Though I sported this choker thing back in the early 2000s but not the thick ones that’s trending from last year like the ones you see from Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.

I started to wear this trend wayback early 2016 but I never EVER bought one. I made one for myself instead.
As you can see on the photos below. That’s the very first choker that I made.

And on today’s blog I’ll show you how I made my very first choker. πŸ™‚

All you need is a ribbon (I personally prefer at least an inch thick), a roll of thread (preferably the same color of your ribbon), a needle, and a metal hook and eye.
1. First, is you measure your ribbon around your neck and leave at least an 2 inches allowance then mark it and cut it slightly diagonally so the ribbon won’t go “feathery” and loose its texture at the ends.

(photo from google)
2. Next is to prepare your thread and needle. Ideally the length of the thread is 20 inches but what I do is I measure it vertically around my arm. From my fingers holding the thread down to my elbow then back to my fingers holding the thread. (This shouldn’t be hard)

  1. Using your ribbon, ensure that what’s on the top is the ones you prefer to be in front then fold a few centimeters inward and start stitching the metal hook. Same fold on the other end of the ribbon where you need to stitch the metal eye.
(I am using the larger hook & eye. I prefer this if your ribbon is thick)
  2. Finally the finished product! I made 3 chokers just earlier today and here they are.

Few tips on wearing your chokers. You can also pair it with a necklace of your choice and it looks edgy when you’re wearing a tube top, a v-neck, a low round neck, an off-shoulder or any clothing that exposes your clavicle or shoulders.

That’s it for today’s blog. Thanks again for reading! πŸ˜‰

My Interesting MakeUp Storage Ideas

I’m all about makeup and it’s all about mess of you’re not able to keep ’em all organized. Right now, my makeups are placed on transparent containers that I’ve bought from a store, I’m also using a transparent jar, and I also tried using a wine glass for my makeup brushes. And even a cupcake stand that right now I’m using as a container for my perfumes. Weird but resourceful right?

Despite those stuff that I tried in organizing my makeup I still want to have those big acrylic makeup holders as seen on the photo below.

That being showed, I’m still the type who’s very creative and into DIY stuff and finding other purposes for a particular stuff (insert resourceful).

Like this transparent jar or vase below. I want to try it with a small aquarium or any transparent jar with an unusual shape will do and put marbles or huge fake pearl beads in it. The marbles or beads will hold your makeup brushes or makeup sticks (eg. eye liner, liquid liner, mascara, lip liners etc.)

Now this another DIY photo below is something that I really can use for my lipsticks so I can see the label on them. I believe it’ll just take at least 3-4 circular transparent containers that you can glue with a glue gun together. Isn’t it convenient? πŸ™‚

On this next one as shown on the photo below it used metal trays and it really does look very very classy! Hence the effort. I have those kind of trays at home but it’s really huge like it’s really meant to serve lotsa food on the table!

Below are a few photos that I wanted to for my room that are somehow achievable. I’m really into whites and transparent. I like it neat and seeing everything or rather accessible looking.

But for now I gotta stick with what I have. And you can try my makeup storage ideas at home too! You can spice it up by putting glittery ribbons on it or spray paint on it. Do whatever you like and I would love to read your ideas by leaving it on the comments below. Thanks again for reading! πŸ˜‰

App of the week: ColorStory

Recently, I’ve been fond of photo editing apps. Last week I blogged PicsArt (Click here to read App of the week: PicsArt) as one of my favorite apps.

And for this week it’s another photo editing app which is called ColorStory. I provided some screenshots below how you can start the app.

The difference of ColorStory from other apps with presets or filters is that you can save a certain filter, effects and any photo adjustments that you used on one photo and use it on the next photo that you’re about to edit. Cool right?!

I’ve tried editing few photos using ColorStory appΒ from my camera roll as shown below and I’m still on the experimental stage of using this photo editing app.

The only downside of ColorStory is that this app has lots of nice filters and effects that you need to purchase. The free filter sets that you can get are only Essentials and Good Vibes while for the effects is only the Starter.
Used Color Fog 2 Effect + Flip
Used Color Fog 1 Effect + Flip

I still recommend ColorStory app for starters and use it instantly to put a cool filter and effect on your pictures right away before you upload it to make your photo Instagram worthy! πŸ™‚

There you have it guys! Let me know what you think about the app my leaving your comments below. Thanks again for reading! πŸ˜‰

No Makeup MakeUp look

So today I decided to stick to nude colors to achieve thisΒ No MakeUp MakeUp Look.Β Β I did not put too much on my eyes today and skipped the eye liner. But for my eye brows I have to fill in all the spaces there since I also colored it when I dyed my hair and it looks like I don’t have my eye brows. (I miss my old eye brows)

img_0276Also, I had my hair braided today by one of my friends at work (thanks Jenn!). I have listed below the products that I have used for today’s No Makeup Makeup Look.
img_0277Eyebrows:Β BYS Eye Shadow Powder
Eyelids:Β LA Girl Nude Eye Shadow Palette
Eye lashes: Maybelline HyperCurl
Lippie:Β Maybelline Matte lipstick in Darlingly Nude
Cheeks:Revlon Matte Balm in Showy

That’s all for today. Just a quick tip, this No MakeUp Makeup Look always depends on your skin tone and don’t ever ever skip the blush and the lips. You don’t want to look sick. The goal is to look effortlessly natural and fresh. I want to hear more of your ideas by leaving it on the comments section below. Thanks again for reading! πŸ˜‰

Tuesday Top 3: Must-Rush Makeup

Back in my high school days I remember that I’m really not into so much makeup. When I stepped into junior high I started fixing myself and my must-haves are: lip balm, face powder and sometimes an eye liner and that’s it!

Growing up I discover new stuff about beauty and it’s just overwhelming that nowadays there are lot of stuff that you can put on your face especially makeup. It’s as fast-paced as technology.

Way back then, makeup is just about covering imperfections and enhance a few features on the face. But now, there’s contouring, strobing and etcetera! And sometimes when I do my basic makeup, the basic doesn’t feel so basic anymore. I put on my concealer, foundation powder, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, blush, lipstick and sometimes even contour!

There also those in-a-rush days or lazy days wherein I don’t really pay much attention to my face but still care to look presentable. Or rather put an effort not looking pale or sick.

  1. Eye brow pencil
The eye brows literally frames the face and it can actually do a manor change on how your face actually looks. Personally, I go from my natural shaped eye brows with a slight arch to full eye brows. Depending on my mood actually.

I’m not really particular when it comes to brand of eye brow pencil but A few good brands that I have used are NYX, BYS and Clinique. I was supposed to put mascara here but… Eye lashes doesn’t really have a huge face framing factor unlike your eye brows which really is a game changer. #EyeBrowsForLife
  2. Foundation powder
I am literally the Queen of Oiliness. And I just can’t go on with my life without a good foundation powder that will help me get through the day with minimal touch ups.
Right now I am using NYX Stay Matte not Flat Powder Foundation and ELF Two-way Foundation Powder.
  3. Lipstick
I’m a sick-looking kid without lipstick. That’s why I make sure I always have one one on me. For a bolder look I always go for those shades that are dark red, burgundy or close to maroon. I’m not into shiny lippies. I actually go with something creamy to matte finish. And I double the duty by applying it as a blush too.

Right now my dual purpose lipsticks are Revlon Matte Balm in Showy and Maybelline Matte lipstick in Ravishing Rose and my go-to red lippies up to date are Jordana Matte lipstick in Berry and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Prague. (Disclaimer: Prague is not actually red. It’s actually dark pink in color. And it may look red for some)

And that’s for my Tuesday Top 3 for this week. I want to know your top 3 makeup must-haves too and your makeup recommendations for those lazy days by sharing it on the comments section below. Thanks again for reading! πŸ˜‰

App of the week: PicsArt

Been using PicsArt for the longest time I can remember. But I think the first time that I used it was with my Nexus 7 tablet and been enjoying editing a lot!
Though it’s not as the same pro level like the Adobe Photoshop but it’s good to have one on your phone and on your tablet.
I, hereby dub PicsArt as the App of the week! I personally think that it’s actually my phone’s App of it’s entire existence! From making your own drawing, special effects or filters on your photos, photo collage, various unique clip arts and fonts. You just can’t get enough! Recently, I just updated PicsArt and they have this additional feature called Magic. Here are the sample edited photos below.

It looks like an innovated Andy Warhol effect on those photos. And if you’re just as creative as me and you’re blogging too, PicsArt is really really the app for you.

Five Friday Faves: Beauty hacks

When it comes to products. Not only beauty products, I believe that it has lots of use and it can become an instant remedy. I’m talking about general stuff here guys. But since this is a beauty blog, I want to share some hacks that I’ve learned through the years that I have applied personally. Let’s get started!

1. Dried up eye liner pencil?
Use a lighter to heat your eye liner pencil for just a few seconds only. The heat will slightly melt the eye liner, making it easier for you to apply it again on your eye brows or eye lids. Remember: heat it for a few seconds only!

2. Broken eye shadow palette?
Head to your toiletries and get your alcohol (isopropyl or ethyl, it doesn’t matter). Pour it on the broken eye shadow palette and piece it together and flatten it with your fingers. Leave it for 30-50minutes until it totally dries up. Voila! You’ve got your eye shadow palette pieced back together again!
TIP: You can also use the same technique on a broken foundation face powder.

3. Hair and scalp too oily and sweaty?
Now this I sweat it really works for me especially when I’m done with my workout and I don’t want the feeling of oily and sweaty hair and scalp. Grab a baby powder and put a good amount in your palm if you have long hair. Then comb your hands on your hair and massage it. The powder will absorb the excess oil and sweat. No need to worry that it will leave white spots on your hair. As long as you’ll towel it off or even just a tissue, will do the trick! Plus this beauty hack gives your hair volume too!

4. Dry lips?
Of course you wouldn’t want to apply your lipstick on dried lips. There are instances that there’s this dryness even if you applied your lip balm. Then this means your lips needs a little exfoliating. You can apply your favorite lip balm or even a petroleum jelly on your lips then head to your kitchen’s cupboard to get a half teaspoon of sugar (or even less) then scrub it on your lips. This will help buff out the dead skin off from your lips then wipe it off with a tissue then you’re good to apply your lippie. And why sugar and not salt? Because sugar is somehow rounder than salt and incase your lips are chapped or wounded, at least the sugar won’t burn or sting. Got it? Good!

5. Almost dried up mascara?
Yep you’ve read almost because it this technique that I honestly use on my mascaras but I just have a feeling that it wouldn’t work on totally dried up mascaras. So last but but not least of my five fave hacks… Boil water enough for a tea or coffee cup. Once your poured the hot water on your cup, soak your mascara on the cup. Leave it for 15-20 minutes then remove it from the cup and dry it. Since your mascara was heated, it’s easier to apply it again on your lashes.

There you have it guys! It’s good to know these hacks for us ladies especially to my fellow beauty addicts out there because this is a matter of beauty emergency and we wouldn’t just want to throw our products away or just use it for it’s sole purpose only.

Also I want to know your ideas or if you have your beauty hacks too! I would love to read them and let’s share it with each other by leaving your comments below. Thanks again for reading! πŸ˜‰

Beauty fix: Face Mask

It’s been a hectic week for me and I’m pretty sure that you have experienced work-related or school-related stress. And don’t you just hate that if it shows ok the face? Honestly, no matter how much amount of makeup you put on to cover up especially the eye area, the tiredness will still show on your face or at least the makeup can slightly cover up but there’s this uneasy feeling on your face caused by stress.
To combat this, I sleep with a face mask on. And yeah, this year I’ve been addicted to Korean Face Mask. Like the one that you can see below.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset
And I’ve been using the 365 Daily Mask from Watson’s. And it’s one of my favorites because it’s mild, hydrates my skin and VERY affordable! This one only cost me 55 pesos. And tonight I’m trying this Renewal and Anti-Oxidant mask also from Watson’s and this facial goodie is for only Php 27.50! And so far I am loving it!

I am a fan of using face masks coz it’s my easiest way to pamper my skin from all those dirt and stress and for not having a facial for several months now. It’s my beauty fix from tired skin. So when I wake up the next day your face feels moisturized and hydrated. I personally recommend that you should use one too. There are varieties of face masks that you can try with different benefits such as pore minimizing, whitening, anti aging and etcetera. But what I believe is that the most important factor there is the hydration of the face.

I would love to hear your beauty fix too by leaving it on the comments section below. Thanks again for reading! πŸ˜‰
