How to make your own choker

Chokers may be outdated this 2017. But honestly I still love them. This choker trend started during the 90s era. Though I sported this choker thing back in the early 2000s but not the thick ones that’s trending from last year like the ones you see from Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.

I started to wear this trend wayback early 2016 but I never EVER bought one. I made one for myself instead.
As you can see on the photos below. That’s the very first choker that I made.

And on today’s blog I’ll show you how I made my very first choker. 🙂

All you need is a ribbon (I personally prefer at least an inch thick), a roll of thread (preferably the same color of your ribbon), a needle, and a metal hook and eye.
1. First, is you measure your ribbon around your neck and leave at least an 2 inches allowance then mark it and cut it slightly diagonally so the ribbon won’t go “feathery” and loose its texture at the ends.

(photo from google)
2. Next is to prepare your thread and needle. Ideally the length of the thread is 20 inches but what I do is I measure it vertically around my arm. From my fingers holding the thread down to my elbow then back to my fingers holding the thread. (This shouldn’t be hard)

  1. Using your ribbon, ensure that what’s on the top is the ones you prefer to be in front then fold a few centimeters inward and start stitching the metal hook. Same fold on the other end of the ribbon where you need to stitch the metal eye.
(I am using the larger hook & eye. I prefer this if your ribbon is thick)
  2. Finally the finished product! I made 3 chokers just earlier today and here they are.

Few tips on wearing your chokers. You can also pair it with a necklace of your choice and it looks edgy when you’re wearing a tube top, a v-neck, a low round neck, an off-shoulder or any clothing that exposes your clavicle or shoulders.

That’s it for today’s blog. Thanks again for reading! 😉

My 5 tips on joining beauty pageants if you’re not a pageant-girl

Hi guys! I haven’t been blogging a lot lately. Been busy with work and other things outside of work. I have recently been part of this pageant in our office which is the search for the company’s image model and I want to share to you guys photos from this event.

I am honestly not a pageant-girl but have I have walked for fashion shows for work purposes. I just don’t like the feeling that I have to compete with other ladies for a title. That’s just my personal opinion. I’m happy to have been part of this event.

img_1231img_1232I have put extra effort on my makeup but as you can see I didn’t put much of an effort on my hair. I honestly just towel dried my hair and combed it. Luckily we have hair stylists and makeup artists there for the event. One of them hair-iron straightened my hair. My hair was a disaster on my evening gown look but I love it. I’m comfortable and that’s just me. I didn’t intend to be over glammed up.

I didn’t win the title but I was so happy for my friend/team mate Jenn who won a special award for Miss Photogenic. So proud coz I did her makeup! I didn’t win any special awards that night but was part of the top 5. I was the first one called. I honestly didn’t expect it because, 1) I didn’t spent money for this pageant (well except for food and my makeup). 2) I didn’t win any special awards. And 3) I don’t have that huge of fan-base.
It was a nerve racking experience because I was first called for the question and answer portion and I’m so scared I might go on a mental block or answer too much weirdness. The question was, if my name will be put on the dictionary, what would it mean and why? I totally don’t remember my answer but I remember saying that my name would mean optimistic and hardworking. Besides that it’s my personality, I want people to feel that when they used that word which is my name, it will serve its positive purpose (the hell I really don’t know where did that came from). Each contestant was able to answer well and I’m just happy and relieved for everyone. The one that I speculated who would win actually won. I’ve thought it because, 1) I honestly think she nailed her photo for the pre pageant, 2) she performs well, 3) she really have a huge fan base. Congrats to Gelly! (I wish I know her full name)

I’ll update my blog soon as I was able to get good photos from the pageant.

It was quite an experience but I swore to myself that this would be the last pageant that I’ll be joining. I really feel that I’m kinda old for this kind of stuff and I want to focus on my work and becoming a makeup artist (please support me on this venture!) I wanted to end this blog post about:

Tips on joining beauty pageants if you’re not a pageant-girl (Yep! You’ve read that right)
1. Take good care of your skin.
– remember its a beauty pageant. Always hydrate. Don’t sleep with your makeup on. Wash your face with your trusted face wash and don’t forget that a toner is a must plus your moisturizer.
2. Ensure you have a good makeup on you.
– it’s either you learn from the internet or get a friend to do your makeup for you.
3. Always attend rehearsals.
– you get to know your co-contestants well and share tips. Also you don’t want to miss out any changes in the flow of the show.
4. Have a good support system.
– those are your family and friends. They will keep you motivated.
5. Be thankful.
– its not all the time that you’ll be joining this kind of event. The fact that you were chosen to join is because people believe you have a potential. 🙂

No Makeup MakeUp look

So today I decided to stick to nude colors to achieve this No MakeUp MakeUp Look.  I did not put too much on my eyes today and skipped the eye liner. But for my eye brows I have to fill in all the spaces there since I also colored it when I dyed my hair and it looks like I don’t have my eye brows. (I miss my old eye brows)

img_0276Also, I had my hair braided today by one of my friends at work (thanks Jenn!). I have listed below the products that I have used for today’s No Makeup Makeup Look.
img_0277Eyebrows: BYS Eye Shadow Powder
Eyelids: LA Girl Nude Eye Shadow Palette
Eye lashes: Maybelline HyperCurl
Lippie: Maybelline Matte lipstick in Darlingly Nude
Cheeks:Revlon Matte Balm in Showy
Contour: BYS Eye Shadow Powder
Face: NYX Stay Matte Not Flat Powder Foundation
That’s all for today. Just a quick tip, this No MakeUp Makeup Look always depends on your skin tone and don’t ever ever skip the blush and the lips. You don’t want to look sick. The goal is to look effortlessly natural and fresh. I want to hear more of your ideas by leaving it on the comments section below. Thanks again for reading! 😉

How to effectively whiten your skin

Nowadays, skin color is not big of an issue anymore because people have different preferences. Some people prefer tan to darker skin tones, or pale to olive skin tones. But whatever skin tone you got, as long as your skin is soft and smooth, you’re ok with that. Love your own skin! 🙂

I dedicate this blog to all Filipinas out there who are so into whitening. I’ve read a lot about whitening stuff and watched some interviews. It just appears to me that Filipinas are obsessed with whitening and smoothening products.

Having a lighter and smoother skin tone in this country actually is a social status. That’s definitely not a lie. According to Mendoza, the skin whitening industry is prolific in many countries that are in the process of improving socioeconomically, especially the Philippines. In these developing countries, skin-whitening products are highly popular among the lower class, as darker skin has been associated with undesirable characteristics, such as low income and inferior social status. (Read the original article here)

So how to really effectively whiten your skin? Don’t get me wrong. I’m not against any skin color. Again, skin color or skin tone is a matter of preference. And I am self-confessed that I’m one of those Filipinas who wanted lighter skin. Honestly speaking, I have a slightly fair skin tone and I guess yellowish undertone. But I have an “uneven” skin tone. And I believe I was just introduced to a solution to that kind of problem.
I’ve been using L-Gluta White together with Royal C both from Royalè.

L-Gluta Power Glutathione Capsule is unique in its own way. What made this product stand out is its ultimately powerful formulation. In order to make this supplement more potent, Royalè combined L-Glutathione with some of the world’s most potent antioxidants: Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Grapeseed Extract — which is said to be 20x more potent than Vitamin C and 50 times more potent than Vitamin E.
(Click here to read more about L-Gluta Power)

More reasons to drink this holy grail of lightening is that it effectively lightens the skin (this is only a side effect actually) through inhibiting tyrosinase — an enzyme that plays an important role in the production of melanin. Also it boosts our immune system. I just learned that lack of Glutathione is said to be a contributory factor in some of the most dreaded degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, cataracts, cystic fibrosis, cancer, etc. Another factor which is a that it detoxifies. It’s considered as a precursor that helps our liver to flush out harmful chemicals that have entered our body.

I drink this along with the Royalè-C which increases the absorption of the L-Gluta Power Glutathione capsule. And I’m happy to know that it’s more tummy-friendly and effective than the usual Ascorbic acid because it contains Sodium Ascorbate (a non-acidic form of Vitamin C.)
In fact it is becoming more and more popular nowadays because of it is easily absorbed by the body — thus, boosting the immune system faster and more effectively.
(Click here to read more about Royalè-C)

Now you know more about what I use to lighten and brighten your skin from within. It’s time I introduce to you what I’ve been using recently on my body.

Been using this soap for awhile now and I just love its mild scent and fragrance I notice that doesn’t melt easily and this lasts longer than of the average soap.
The L-Gluta Power Whitening Soap effectively whitens the skin and evens out skin tone. It is also known to reduce dark spots, freckles, pimple marks and it does rejuvenates the skin through mild exfoliation. Besides Glutathione it has Vitamin E for antioxidant protection and nourishment.
(Click here to read more about L-Gluta Power soap).

So there you have it. I personally believe its a perfect whitening package plus if you wanted to include the lotion as well. In a months time I’ll be blogging about how effective the products are to me. But honestly right now I’m seeing slight visible changes. I can see that my skin is more bright compared to last week.(Photo below taken earlier today)

Ways to flawless lashes: My DOs and DON’Ts

image

Besides focusing on my eyebrows when doing my makeup is I pay extra attention when I put mascara on my eye lashes. I’m self-confessed that I always always mess up my mascara. It usually gets into my eyelids or under my eyes and the ever typical problem: the clumps.

That being said, I’ve come up with my proven ways on how to get neatly done lashes or should I say flawless lashes.

DO: Curl your lashes and make sure that your eye lash curler is not damaged. Especially the rubber part where you primp your lashes. Sometimes the rubber gets torn, resulting for your eye lashes to get stuck there.
DO: When pulling out the wand of your mascara, remove the excess mascara by twisting it upwards or leaving the excess on the inner tube of your mascara. This prevents your lashes from clumping due to excess mascara.
DO: Look straight. Not upwards. Not downwards. When applying mascara. I find it better rather than looking upwards coz I noticed that’s always the time that I accidentally put mascara on my eyelids.
DO: Have an eye lash comb/brush ready while applying mascara. What I do is I comb my eye lashes after a few swipes to prevent it from (again) clumping. I also comb my eye lashes while its still on the eye lash curler.

DON’T: ever. EVER curl your eye lashes right after applying your mascara. Worst case is that your eye lashes might stick on the curler and rip your lashes off when you remove your eye lash curler. (Yep. It can happen)
DON’T: Heat your eye lash curler with a blower. I know that you’ve read it several times on different websites but I strongly suggest No. I’ve done this before and I end up slightly burning the sides of my outer eye and eye lid. Always remember that the skin around the eyes are the most sensitive ones so be extra careful with it. Just curl it for a few minutes repetitively will do the trick.
DON’T: Dust powder on your eye lashes before putting on your mascara. I personally think that applying powder on your eye lashes before mascara is a beauty myth because I’ve tried it several times and it seems that if you apply powder first, then your mascara, it doesn’t really add volume to your lashes but it adds factor to the clumping.
DON’T: Forget to apply mascara on your lower lash lines. Those mini hairs on your lower eye lids needs some accentuating too. It enhances the shape of your eyes.

Those are my DOs and DONTs in having flawless eye lashes. Your eye lashes doesn’t have to be really thick and long for you to love it as long as you know how to manage it, you can manage all throughout the day! Honestly, my lashes are long and a bit sparse but I still love curling and putting mascara on them. I hope you liked what I shared today on the blog. Thanks again for reading! 😉

Tuesday Top 3: My After-Makeup-Must Regimen

For some of us girls (especially to us working girls), makeup is like second nature. It’s a routine at the start of your regular working day where you put so much concentration on. Am I right?!

As for me, I really love putting makeup on as much as I love removing it from my face when I come home from work. (You can view my blog on my Top 3 MakeUp removers here)

It really is important to remove all those makeup and residue but it doesn’t stop there. So I wanted to share with you guys my recommended regimen that I religiously do after removing my makeup. Because it is very essential for us to have our face totally clean. What we don’t know is that excess makeup and dirt is still on your face and still clogs your skin’s pores. Yeah it does!

Let’s go back to the basics!

Cleanse.
You might be hearing this for a thousand times but this routine is there for a reason. Personally I go for the typical so-called mild brands such as: Cetaphil, Celeteque, Dove and I even go for mild baby soaps or baby’s body wash. But recently this soap was introduced to me called SKN Optimum White from Royalè .

SKN Optimum White

I’ve been using this soap for a few days now and honestly I find it actually good! It’s not too foamy, it doesn’t sting and after rinsing it, my face doesn’t feel dry nor it feels too moisturized. Because if you feel like your face is still extra moisturized from rinsing, it means the soap residue is still there. And the major catch here is that this soap is formulated to lighten your skin (you can use it on your body too!). It reduces hyperpigmentation, dark spots and acne scars resulting to an even skin tone and improved texture. Plus, it provides a moisturizing formula that effectively combats skin aging. Intensely lightens and moisturizes skin with its blend of botanical extracts that bring out the skin’s natural glow and radiance. So I highly recommend this one.

Apply Toner.
The toner’s role is to restore your skin’s natural pH levels which were usually altered during cleansing. As for me, I go for the mild ones. Those toners that doesn’t have a strong smell and doesn’t sting. You should opt for a toner that is low in alcohol content. Personally I use the following (whichever):

Belo Pore Refining Toner, Gluta C Intense Whitening Toner, Ponds White Beauty Pore Refining Toner, or Nivea Aqua Effect Mattifying Toner. I’ve been using these for years and so far I didn’t have any allergic reactions to it and face doesn’t feel dry after applying any of these toners.
TIP
: DON’T. EVER. Ever skip applying toner. Besides it cleans deeply your pores, again it restores the natural pH levels of your skin.

Moisturize.
Last but not least, is to moisturize. And I’m very scrupulous in picking out the moisturizer for my face. Before I’d always go for something whitening or mattifying since I find my face oily but I don’t like the feeling that my face is dry to touch, so it’s pointless that you applied moisturizer. So I went for those anti-aging kind of moisturizers. And I actually like the effect on my face, it feels so smooth and I for some point it smoothens the fine lines on my face. However there’s this feeling of thickness on my face and the feeling gets heavier since my skin is slightly oily. Just recently I discovered this moisturizer called L’opulent Leur Brightening Cream also from Royalè and I’ve been using it for a few days now.
Though it’s not an anti-aging cream but it does promote that anti-aging feels. The L’opulent Leur Brightening Cream promotes long-term skin luminosity and lessens the appearance of dark spots and blemishes. Here’s a photo below right after I cleansed, toned and moisturize with L’opulent.

After cleansing, toning and using L'opulent Leuer Brightening Cream.

After cleansing, toning and using L’opulent Leuer Brightening Cream.

I’ve been using it for at least 2-3 times a day and it doesn’t give me that heavy or thick feeling on my face. I personally use this as a makeup base or primer and it helps my makeup glide smoothly on my face.

I hope you guys liked today’s Tuesday Top 3. I’ll be posting more about beauty. I also included links how you can shop for these newly found beauty products. Thanks again for reading! 😉
