Hi everyone! The baby on board is now at 24 weeks (6 months). So far I’ve been able to keep up with my daily activities but to be honest. It’s a bit difficult for me. I experience lower back pain more and more often. I can’t lie down on my back for a long time as it causes discomfort. The most relaxing position is lying on my left side. Yes it helps.
The baby is moving a lot lately. We are very curious what the baby is doing inside and wondering if there’s enough space to move. So far so good. I think I’m a lot bigger now compare to my first pregnancy. I hope it’s not a bad thing. I’m in the hope not to go on a C-section because the baby is too big.
I’ve missed my prenatal check up for August due to busy schedule. But I’m looking forward to have my check up this September and see what the baby is doing.
How the baby is growing
According to my baby center update for 24 weeks: Your baby is growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at about 1 1/3 pounds. Since he’s almost a foot long (about the length of an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he’ll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop.
His lungs are developing “branches” of the respiratory “tree” as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon. (Read more here)
How my body is changing
I don’t fit that much on my usual clothes anymore. My dresses feel a bit shorter now because of the growing belly. I’m not keen into buying maternity dresses coz I know I will not be able to use them that much after I give birth.
Perhaps, I’d rather buy a size larger or two than my usual. I have a small body frame, so my dress size goes with an XS or S. I can opt to trying out dress sizes between Medium or Large.
So far now signs of stretch marks on my belly and I’m really hoping not to have stretch marks on it. It’s not that I’m totally against it. To be honest I actually have stretch marks on the buttocks area from my first pregnancy. I’m willing to embrace imperfections especially if I can’t really do anything about it. But if I can, why not? Every woman, pregnant or not should still take good care of themselves.
That’s it for my fortnightly update of my growing bump. If you feel like I missed anything just let me know. You can leave your comments below or contact me here, and be sure to leave any requests for any posts you’d like to read here on the blog too! Thanks for reading! 😉
